Audio-visual perception of Mandarin lexical tones in AX same-different judgment task
Two same-different discrimination tasks were conducted to test whether Mandarin and English native speakers use visual cues to facilitate Mandarin lexical tone perception. In the experiments, the stimuli were presented in 3 modes: audioonly (AO), audio-video (AV) and video-only (VO) under the clear and two levels of signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) -6dB and 9dB noise condition. If the speakers’ perc...
متن کاملAging and capacity in the same-different judgment.
The same-different judgment was used in two experiments to investigate age-group differences in visual processing. Two targets next to fixation were presented; the targets on one-half of the trials were the same, and on the other half of the trials, the targets differed by color, shape, or color and shape (redundant). Response times were lower for redundant trials than for color-only and shape-...
متن کاملan investigation of accuracy and complexity across different proficiency levels in written narrative task
abstract this quasi-experimental study was aimed at examining the impact of storyline complexity on the grammatical accuracy and complexity of advanced and intermediate efl learners. a total of 65 advanced and intermediate efl learners were selected from iran language institute (ili). an intact group including 35 intermediate participants and another intact group with 30 advanced participants ...
Transfer of the "same-different' differentiation task in dogs.
Four dogs, previously trained to perform on the "same-different" differentiation with tones transfered readily to the same task with new stimuli of the same (auditory) modality. The data are interpreted as an support for the "matching" hypothesis and a disproof of the notion of "conditioned switching".
متن کاملThe Relative Sensitivities of Same-different and Identification Judgment Models to Perceptual Dependence
Probabilistic models of same-different and identification judgments are compared (within each paradigm) with regard to their sensitivity to perceptual dependence or the degree to which the underlying psychological dimensions are correlated. Three same-different judgment models are compared. One is a step function or decision bound model and the other two are probabilistic variants of a similari...
